A national photography competition for under 19s.

The competition closed at 1am Tuesday 8th September. The entries are now being judged.
1. The RSPCA Young Photographer Awards 2009 competition ("the Competition") will run on http://ypa.rspca.org.uk/ ("the Website").
2. The promoter of this Competition is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) (a charity registered in England & Wales, No. 219099), Wilberforce Way, Southwater, Horsham, West Sussex RH13 9RS ("the Promoter").
3. Entrants submitting online entries to the Competition will be deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions:

The Competition is open to all UK and Ireland residents aged 18 years or below, other than employees of the RSPCA, RSPCA branches, Olympus Europa Holding GmbH and Warners Midlands plc, and their families. Entrants under the age of 16 must have their parent's or legal guardian’s permission to enter the Competition.
5. There are four categories in the Competition: Under 12 years, 12-18 years, Olympus Portfolio and Pet Personalities.
6. Under 12 category: Open to entrants who are 11 years old and under on 7 September 2009 (no minimum age). A maximum of five photos per entrant is permitted in this category.
7. 12-18 years category: Open to entrants who are aged 12 years or older but younger than 19 years on 7 September 2009. A maximum of five photos per entrant is permitted in this category.
8. Olympus Portfolio category: Open to entrants aged 18 or under on 7 September 2009 (no minimum age). A maximum of three portfolios may be submitted in this category; each portfolio must contain five different images.
9. Pet Personalities category: Open to entrants aged 18 or under on 7 September 2009 (no minimum age). A maximum of five photos per entrant is permitted in this category.
10. All entries should be entered using the upload service at www.rspca.org.uk/ypa.
11. Entrants are restricted to one online YPA account. Any entrant found to have multiple accounts may be disqualified.
12. The same photos or similars may not be entered into more than one of the four categories referred to above. However, the Promoter and Competition judges have the discretion to move photos into a different category if they judge it appropriate.
13. All photos entered into the Competition must be faithful representations of what the photographer saw at the time of taking the photo. Digital adjustments are only acceptable if they are for minor cleaning work, levels, curves, colour, saturation and contrast work. Photos will be rejected from the Competition if, the Promoter or the judges believe that the images have been manipulated or are not the entrant's original work.
14. Entrants should not do anything to upset or stress animals in their attempt to photograph an animal. Photos will be rejected from the Competition if the Promoter or the judges believe that they show an animal in distress or upset.
15. No purchase is necessary.
16. Photos or similars that are entered into the Competition must not be entered into any other competition where the announcement of the winners is before 11 December 2009. Any photos entered that have previously won a national photography competition will be rejected.
17. The closing date for online entries is 12am on 8 September 2009. Any entries received by the Promoter after this time will be rejected from the Competition.
18. The judges of the Competition are named on the Website. The judges judge all photos that are shortlisted by the Promoter.
19. All finalists to the Competition will be notified by the Promoter by no later than 29 September 2009 by letter. The decisions of the judges and the Promoter are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
20. Olympus cameras provided by the Competition’s sponsor, Olympus, will be awarded to the winners of each category, as decided by the judges. Additional prizes provided by Olympus may be awarded to runners up in each of the categories, but this is at the sole discretion of the judges and the Promoter.
21. An Overall Winner Award prize will be awarded to the category winner whose photo is selected by the judges and they will receive £500 worth of Olympus gift vouchers donated by Olympus and the opportunity to take part in an exclusive photoshoot with the Promoter at a time and place to be notified.
22. Prizes are non-exchangeable and no cash alternative will be offered. Prizes will be presented at an official awards ceremony on 11 December 2009 where the winners will be announced. For a list of the winners please contact publications@rspca.org.uk after 14 December 2009.
23. Each entrant agrees that, only for the purposes of promoting the Competition and future RSPCA Young Photographer Awards, the Promoter may (1) use the entrant’s personal data and (2) disclose the entrant’s name and age to third parties. The Promoter shall seek the entrant’s prior consent (or the entrant’s parent’s or legal guardian’s prior consent if the entrant is under 16) before disclosing any further personal data to third parties.
24. Entrants must be the sole copyright owner of all photos they enter into the Competition. Entrants warrant that their entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other person. Entrants retain copyright rights in their submitted photos and, where possible, the Promoter will credit them. However, by entering, all entrants give the Promoter a worldwide royalty free licence to use, reproduce and exhibit the submitted photos in all media, only for the purposes of promoting or publicising this Competition or future RSPCA Young Photographer Awards. Any further use of the photos will be agreed with the entrant under a separate agreement.
25. Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of the Promoter or its employees, no responsibility is taken by the Promoter for entries which are lost, delayed, misdirected, damaged or incomplete for any technical or other reason.
26. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, modify or supersede the Competition at any time if, in its sole discretion, a Competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.
27. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar value in the event that circumstances beyond their control make this unavoidable.
